Online dating is a good place to find fatties, ugly people, fake people and old people as well as psychos. There are also a few normal people just lookin to hook up. If that is your taste then go for it. Better to take classes at a local junior college, volunteer, be more outgoing in public and be seen to meet more regular people where you can see them as they are instead of through a screen.

Dating Sites
by ballistic inhas anyone tried dating web sites?
i am a member of a famous one, but i am finding it takes so long to get to know someone and the person you finally meet can turn out nothing like you expected.
currently i've been chatting to someone for 6 months - "speed dating" in slow motion!

My last meeting was the Thursday night meeting. I was publicly reproved about a year earlier but they mixed up all the territories and I was in a new hall. My old hall was cool, self employed business people were the norm and it was upbeat. People travelled and had gatherings and there were people my age who did things instead of sitting around.
This new hall really sucked ass. Everyone was old, sick and poor. The rest were drama kings / queens, like the sis who lived with her daughter that had kids from different daddies and was on disability but looked fine to me. All they would talk about was their illnesses and how they had no money. I thought they were all dumbasses for living in a resort beach town that was high cost if they had no skills and complained about having no money.
I tried to make friends but it just didn't happen. People were jealous of my lifestyle as I travel the world, work out regularly and drive nice cars and am single. I've worked hard for what i have but really have nothing in common with overweight mentally ill people. I'm nice and cordial to them and tried to find common ground.
After 6 months of being the invisible man I had had enough and switched halls. Now I hadn't gotten any privileges back so with the move to the new hall, there were now 3 halls privy to my misdeeds. During this time I was never visited or shepherded.
At the last meeting three brothers wanted to meet with me in the back room. They said it was to encourage me. One brother was a real dick. He started fishing and making accusations. This guy doesn't really know me. Asking if there is anything they should know about. Saying it was "ok" for me to attend "their" hall.
Then the big pompous ass was huffing and puffing and waving his head back and forth saying he couldn't see why the other elders didn't disfellowship me and how I should have been. (I got in trouble with a few girls, I'm bad, I like girls too much and they like me). This guy is out to get me and why should I deal with some cock suckin pompous ass and the boring meetings and keep pulling all the knives out of my back?
That was enough Christian love for me. Since I've not been back (its only been a few months) friends have told me more and more about all the attempts to cock block me;. Everyone says I need to get married and nags me about it but the same people thwart any attempts because they are jealous. It is ok if I date sister nutcase, sister fattie or sister has 3 kids by 3 daddies but not the 19 year old hottie who I get along with. Nobody wants anybody to be happy. I've seen so much cruelty and evil that even satan would cringe. -

Convention apostates
by peggy in.
have any of you held with signs, yelling out at the jws as they enter the convention?.
that used to really scare me!

Most apostates I saw at the conventions resembled homeless people or hippies. I always wondered why they didn't shave or wear a suit and try to look more presentable.

High rates of depression in Org.
by chuckyy ini noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).

I think mental illness is heredetary and many people who get baptized are looking for happiness and to make the voices in their head stop. Then their family comes in and their kids are born into it. I had never seen so many people with mental disorders. Now I did and do run with the young professional crowd and before my experience with the witnesses, never knew anybody with mental illnesses. I also had never associated with cleaners and carpenters.
There were also the sisters with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and a few other unknown diseases that doctors could not diagnose where the sister couldn't work but was able to stay home and watch TV all day but anything else would tire her out. I felt sorry for the husbands because the poor suckers did it all and the wacky sisters would go to voodoo and witch doctors (alternative quacks) who would give them all sorts of crap at a high price and not covered by insurance. If the bible treated mental illness like a horse with a broken leg, I bet many would cure very fast.
I think the witnesses are a jealous, nutty bunch. -

by PaNiCAtTaCk inupon arriving i ran into lots of old friends and really enjoyed seeing everyone and visiting.
they dont know that im currently struggling with doubts about the organization and they think that im the same old zealous brother.
i couldnt help but feel a sence of guilt visiting with them about our current number of publishers and how many we had pioneering ect.

College level reading? If that was really the case, 99% of the witnesses wouldn't understand it as many don't finish high school and college is a rarity. Newspapers are generally written at a 4th grade level.

I think the water isn't that bad although I'm down there so much that I'm probably immune to most stuff. Only been sick once this year and it was from drinking the horchata from a street vendor (in Jalisco) sitting in the sun with unpurified ice cubes. I knew it was risky but I have my brain dead moments.
If anyone wants a good lodging deal there for a private condo with kitchenette, I'm actually starting some vacation rentals there. I was approached by the manager. Best deal in the hotel zone and on the beach with pool.
Where you go depends on how old you are. If you are an overweight cruise ship passenger and 50, you'll have different tastes than a Paris Hilton 18 year old that likes to party.
I don't hang out with many americans while there because I can do that in the USA. -

I sent you a PM. I live there part time. In the states now but will be there when you are there. Hurricane Ivan took alot of sand from the beaches in September exposing many rocks. No more boogie boarding for a while. A must do Club is Coco Bongo. Dady O's is fun as well as The City if they have a good DJ. Nectar is the premiere afterhours club from 3am until 6 or 8am. More locals there so if you don't speak Spanish, you may not have much conversation.
Ruth Chris's Steak House opened up a few weeks ago as well as the huge new Aqua by Fiesta Americana.
Plaza La Isla is a good plaza to shop in and see movie and is in the hotel zone. If you go in town, go to Plaza Las Americas.
Fat Tuesday's is fun Tuesday nights for Mardi Gras but seeing boobs gets old after the first time there. spring Break is a blast there but other time you'd wish the girls kept their shirts on. I was almost at the point to give beads so they wouldn't flash!
For cheap drinks and fun with the locals, take the bus to the "centro" to Ave. Yaxchilan. Los Arcos has 2 for 1 drinks all the time and they cost 25-43 pesos, about $2.10 - $4.00 USD. -
